And too soon Farewell

I have already said how nice it was to meet so many nice people at the wedding.  So many of them were Canadian too, which means it is more likely that I will see them again in the future.  But, if it seemed like too soon after meeting them it was farewell, it was.  Some flew out the evening after the wedding, but a few lingered for a few more days.  This was great because it gave us time for one last meeting -- a sushi reunion!

I didn't bring a camera so there are no pictures with this blog today (apologies to those of you who have previously confessed to only looking at the pictures).  But we went to Yashi, a favorite sushi spot on the island to everyone in the group who has lived in Bermuda before...that speaks volumes about it.  Nadine remarked how pretty the waitresses looked, as they wear traditional Japanese silk kimonos.  Steve was trying to remember what "off menu" special sushi was most delicious of all.  Barrie had his camera at the ready and I got a preview of a couple of his trip photos.  He and Lorie are the fellow cat lovers (also have 3 Turkish Van's and birds), and they were excited to have been adopted by a local cat at their accommodations that week.  The local cat had a home, but it decided it enjoyed their company as well.   Bermuda cats can be kinda forward like that.  Krystal took some good hearted ribbing from Steve about some of her now legendary shopping exploits in Vegas (Steve will never look at a fanny pack the same way again).  And Mike and Nicola oversaw the proceedings from the slightly higher table only quasi attached to ours as 11 was just a little too big for a Yashi table.  This makes it extra comical, because I believe Mike is already somewhere between 6'4 and 6'8'', depending on what shoes I wear, so we were gazing up at him again.  He's a tall dude, which makes his stories about police work both in Bermuda and back in England even more funny -- he once chased a perpetrator on a kids bicycle....if your imagination is good that should make your smile alone.  Dev sheepishly sipped on his water after a particularly busy day of socializing the day before with his old bartender friend, and I enjoyed all the banter, and probably got poked at for a few stories of my own.

After the delicious sushi was devoured, we headed over to the Hog Penny for one last island drink for most, and one last round of phase 2 -- storytelling.  Over a few classic punchlines like "my drink was spiked...all 12 of them," we shared some last laughs of the trip.  Hugs were handed out, spare bedrooms and visit offers were exchanged, and we all ambled off down our separate roads.  But I am looking forward to the day our paths cross again!
